Accra, Oct. 7, GNA - People who have carved out a positive image for the African in various sectors will be honoured by the African Prize for Transformational Leadership (APFTL) in Accra in March 2011. The package also known as the Garden City Awards is in Peace and Development, Democratic Progress, Physics, Chemistry, Medicine, Finance, Economics, Agriculture, Business and Entrepreneurship categories. APFTL seeks to promote responsible leadership in all fields of endeavour in Africa.
In an interview with Ghana News Agency in Accra, Professor Quinton Williams, Chairman of APFTL, said the group, a non-governmental organization, sought to equip people with relevant knowledge and information that would help the members to utilize their talents and potentials in Africa.
He said the APFTL in conjunction with affiliates and other educational institutions, organized symbolic academic awards for their contributions to knowledge acquisition and their exceptional leadership roles in politics, business, entrepreneurship, education, health and other significant areas of human endeavour.
The Professor of Physics and Provost of Jackson State University USA, said: "It also provides a platform for highly driven individuals and organizations to acquire the requisite tools and knowledge that will give them a competitive edge and make them more effective". He said the APFTL organised the Garden City award in Kumasi earlier this year. 7 Oct. 10
