The Old Students of Ada Senior High Technical School, (ASTOSA) in the Ada West District have donated an air condition worth Twelve Thousand Three Hundred Ghana Cedis (GH¢12,300) to their alma mater to ensure the completion of a modern ICT lab available for academic purposes.

The group’s benevolence to the institution is one of the requirements to help install 40 laptops at the school’s ICT Lab to make the facility conducive for use by students and teachers.

A non-governmental organization has begun the initiative to furnish the school’s ICT Lab with 40 laptops.

However, the lab needs air conditioning to ensure ventilation which the past students assumed the role of supporting the project.

The presentation was organized on September 5, 2024, during a gathering of the school's staff, executives from the Old Students' Association, and students.

The headmaster of the Ada Senior High Technical School (ASTECH), Raphael Vroom, accepted the item on behalf of the school and lauded the effort of the old students taking the initiative to furnish the facility to meet a modern standard.

He explained the availability of a modern ICT Lab in the school is a measure to make STEM education a priority for the students adding that, fields under science, technology, engineering, and math are recent demands of the world of work.

Mr. Vroom added that teaching the students to acquire knowledge in ICT does not augment their academic chances, but significantly propels them for future employment in computing.

In addressing the gathering, he assured that the school’s authorities are poised to maintain the facility to encourage the association to offer their support to ensure the realization of other projects in the school.

The president of the Old Students Association, Alex Dugbatey, stated that the association's goal is to assist the teaching of ICT to the students, which guided their choice to support the project.

He also expressed gratitude to the past year’s groups who heeded to contribute their quota to make it possible to help their alma mater.

“As a way to show appreciation to the various past years' groups, I will use this opportunity to thank individuals who contributed to making the purchase a reality,” he said.
