Accra, Jan. 16, GNA - Nii Tetteh Adjabeng I, Adabraka Atukpai Mantse, has commended the Ghana Police Service for the pioneering role it played to ensure that Ghana's 2008 general election was peaceful. He said; "There was no denying the fact that there were some few confusions here and there but the police stood their ground and withered the storm for peace to prevail".
Nii Adjabeng made the commendation when he donated 500 Ghana cedis, a carton of beer and a bottle of whisky on behalf of the Adabraka Stool Authority to the Adabraka Divisional Police in Accra on Thursday. The donation was in fulfilment of a promise made by the authority to the police on the need to have a peaceful election in the Adabraka Community. He urged the police to be up and doing to ensure that recalcitrant members of the community were made to face the full rigours of the law.
Nii Adjanbeng said the doors of the authority were always opened to the police to assist them in the settlement of civil cases. Inspector William Nettey, Station Officer, who received the items on behalf of the Divisional Police praised the authority for their kind gesture. He expressed the hope that the authority would co-operate with the police to ensure that there was always peace in the community.
