Mr. Godson Akorli, Headteacher of Adaklu Waya E.P. Basic School has appealed for a modern school block for the pupils.
He said the current situation of a thatched school structure with holes in the floor and the lack of library were not promoting teaching and learning.
Mr. Akorli who made the appeal in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Adaklu Waya in the Volta Region said teachers have refused postings to the area and the few who are at post have threatening to leave due to accommodation problems.
Torgbui Lablulu Tegbeza, Chief of Adaklu Waya said the community in its small way put up the provisional structure to assist the pupils whilst they await for a permanent one from the educational authorities.
He said the present situation of the structure is very alarming and appealed to government, non-governmental organizations, philanthropists and charitable organizations to come to their aid.
Torgbui Tegbeza also mentioned water and the bad nature of roads as some of the challenges confronting the people and called for assistance.
He said the community has established an educational fund to support brilliant but needy school children to reduce the dropout rate in the area.
