Adansi-Kotwea, an NDC stronghold defect to NPP

Kotwea (Ash), Aug 22, GNA- The people of Adansi-Kotwea in the Adansi East District of Ashanti, a stronghold of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), led by their assemblyman, have defected to the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Mr Simon Hatekah, the Assemblyman said this when Mr Dominic Yeboah, the Adansi East District Chief Executive, visited the community on Tuesday to explain government policies and programmes to them. Mr Hatekah, who declared the community's support for the NPP said the National Democratic Congress (NDC) failed to fulfil the promises made to them when it was in power.

He said, however, that within the short period that the NPP has been in power, it has been able to increase cocoa yield through the mass spraying exercise, thereby, giving farmers more money through increment in the producer price and payment of bonuses.

The Assemblyman said the government has also provided basic school infrastructure in the community and other places.

Mr Hatekah regretted that past politicians only deceived the people through vain promises, adding that the community has been deprived for a long time till the coming into power of the NPP. He, therefore, pledged the support of the people to the NPP.

The DCE told them that government will not lose faith with them and that it will fulfil its campaign promises to the people. Mr Yeboah asked them to lead lives of emulation and abstain from unprotected sex to avoid the HIV/AIDS.
