Aduana Stars raises funds for Africa

Dormaa-Ahenkro, (B/A) Aug. 16, GNA - The Chiefs and people of Dormaa-Ahenkro bagged more than GHC 120,000 at a fund-raising ceremony to support Aduana Stars FC, in its preparations towards the Club's participation in the CAF Champions League this year.

The appeals for funds event, which was organized by Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang-Badu 11, Dormaahene and Life Patron of champion club at Dormaa-Ahenkro at the week-end, stressed the need for adequate funds to support the Club and rehabilitate the Agyemang Badu Park at Dormaa Ahenkro ahead of CAF's inspection visit.

The Omanhene attributed Aduana Stars' historical performance at the just-ended Glo Premiership to the unflinching home support and predicted similar performance of the team in Africa if adequate infrastructural preparation was carried out to allow the team to play its home matches at Dormaa-Ahenkro.

Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyeman-Badu who is the President of Dormaa Traditional Council said the Club's home matches has not only boosted economic activities in the town but has brought the people together in unity.

"It has provided additional jobs for many businesses including drivers, hotels, food vendors and petty traders", he said, stressing that the Club must necessarily honour its CAF Champions League home matches at Dormaa-Ahenkro to sustain the rise in economic activities.

He asked the two Assemblies in the area, the Dormaa Municipal and Dormaa West District Assembly to support the Club with about GHC300,000 towards the team's preparations for the championship.

The Omanhene appealed to Dormaa citizens home and abroad, the Traditional Councils and the Brong-Ahafo Regional Co-ordinating Council as well as the 22 Municipal and District Assemblies to come to the aid of the Club in its bid to bring honour to the Region.

Osagyefo Agyeman Badu and the queen-mother, Nana Akosua Fima Dwabeng 11, set the tone for the fund-raising with 15,000 Ghana cedis.

Other donations came from Alhaji Alhassan Watara, who was Chairman of the function and head of the Unity Poultry Farm at Dormaa-Ahenkro 20,000 Ghana cedis, Ghana Nuts Limited, Techiman, 10,000 Ghana Cedis, Oti Yeboah Complex Limited, 5,000 Ghana cedis, Ernest Apraku of ABTS, Berekum, 4,000 Ghana cedis, Brong-Ahafo Regional Office of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and District and Municipal Chief Executives, 5,000 Ghana cedis and Mr Kwaku Agyemang Manu, MP for Dormaa-West 2,000 Ghana cedis.

Meanwhile, the Glo Top Four football match between Aduana FC and visiting Obuasi Ashgold which was played on Sunday ended in a goalless draw.
