Adukrom (Ash), June 13, GNA - The people of Adukrom in the Ahafo-Ano South district of Ashanti on Sunday raised 8.5 million cedis from a fund-raising harvest towards their electrification project. Additional, they would pay levies of 30,000 cedis per man and 20,000 cedis per woman towards the project.
Mr Baffour Ansre-Nantee, the assemblyman for Adukrom, appealed to the people to support the assembly to initiate more projects to improve their standard of living.
He said the people were constructing a place of convenience for the local primary school in the town at the cost of 8.7 million cedis, which would be funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
In a speech read for Mr Kwaku Obeng Boateng, the Ahafo-Ano South District Chief Executive, he called for unity among the chiefs, assembly members and the people for the development of the people. Mr Boateng appealed to the people to burry the political differences to ensure the progress of the area.
Mr Ernest Osei, a former assemblyman for the area, urged the people to sustain their communal spirit for the development of the people.
