The Adwene Sellers Association has appealed to the Ashanti Regional Security Council to intensify security on the Kumasi-Yeji Highway to protect traders who ply that road from robbery attacks.
At a meeting attended by its members recently at Atebubu in the Atebubu-Amantin District of Brong Ahafo region, the association noted that robbery cases on the Kumasi-Yeji stretch of the road network usually increase during election years.
Janet Asamoah, president of the association, said members of the association lose over GH¢150,000 annually to the robbers.
She said the association struggles to financially to meet its objectives since it uses about 95 percent of its resources to support the members.
It is a registered business association with members in six districts along the Kumasi-Yeji highway mandated to advocate better business environment for its members.
The association is supported by the Business Sector Advocacy Challenge (BUSAC) Fund, European Union (EU), DANIDA and USAID.
In recent times, the association has collaborated with the security agencies in the districts to address the menace.
