Agogo youth head back in court over Fulani eviction

Youth groups in Agogo have resolved to return to the courts to compel the Ashanti Regional Security Council (REGSEC) to forcibly evict Fulani herdsmen and their animals from Agogo lands.

This comes one month after the ultimatum to the nomads by the Council to relocate had passed with no sign of compliance on their part.

An 11-member committee set up by the REGSEC to come out with an exit plan, following a Kumasi High Court order had recommended the use of force to remove the herdsmen who are accused of atrocities and destruction of farms and water sources with impunity.

Mr. Kingsley Obeng, Spokesperson of the Agogomanmma Kuo, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that they would resort to the courts to get the herdsmen flushed out.

He appealed to the people to remain calm as the leadership of the youth groups made every effort to bring to an end the Fulani menace.

“We are already in talks with their lawyers to determine the next line of action”, he revealed.
