Agona Swedru Hospital cries for doctors

Agona Swedru, May 26, GNA- Mr. S.A. Wahab Mahama, administrator of the Agona Swedru Government Hospital has called on the Ministry of Health to post doctors to the hospital to promote health care delivery in the area.

In an interview with the GNA at Agona Swedru on Thursday, Mr Mahama said the hospital had only two medical officers to attend to the increasing number of patients.

He said even though some young doctors had expressed the willingness to work at the hospital, there were no rooms to accommodate them.

Mr Mahama, therefore, appealed to the government to find a solution to the accommodation problem facing the hospital. He said the hospital could not afford between 10 and 15 million cedis advance payment for accommodation as being demanded by landlords and landladies.

Mr Mahama also called on the authorities to construct toilets and provide a vehicle for the hospital to facilitate health delivery. He asked the Agona Swedru District Assembly to ensure that the contractor working on the fencing around the hospital, which was being executed with money from the MP's common fund, expedites action on the project.

Mr Mahama appealed to philanthropists and organisations and citizens of the area abroad to adopt some of the hospital wards for their proper maintenance and to donate equipment towards good health delivery.

He said the hospital with its small resources had been able to computerilised some of the departments and wards at 100 million cedis.
