Saltpond (C/R), July 24, GNA - The Mfantseman District Directorate of Ministry of Food and Agriculture has organized a two-day workshop for the development of a medium-term plan for some stakeholders at Saltpond as part of Agricultural Services Sub-Sector Implementation Programme (AGSSIP)
The workshop aimed at fashioning out a simple and workable District Agricultural Development Plan that could fit into the AGSSIP, the Ghana Government Poverty Reduction Programme (GPRP) and the Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) budgeting plan.
It was sponsored by German Technical Cooperation (GTZ) a non-governmental organization and attended by 72 participants. The workshop afforded the participants the opportunities to have first hand information on activities of various sectors of the Ministry in their districts.
Addressing the closing session, Mr Georg Kpor, District Director, said agriculture held the key to the socio-economic development of the nation hence the determination of the government to remove impediments that retarded its advancement.
He said the resource persons and the participants would be recalled at a later date to conclude the plan with the inputs they had produced at the workshop.
