Ahafo-Ano North District Assembly presents cash to clubs

Tepa (Ash), Nov 2, GNA - The Ahafo-Ano North District Assembly has presented seven million cedis to three football clubs in the District as its contribution towards the promotion of sports.

They are Tuffour Stars, a Second Division team at Tepa who received two million cedis and a set of jerseys worth one million cedis, Abonsuaso football club and Nana Gyau Stars at Achina, both Third Division clubs who received two million cedis each.

Mr Akwasi Adu-Poku, the District Chief Executive who presented the cash and jerseys to the clubs said one of the priority areas of the Assembly was to support youth development through sports. He said the District Assembly was therefore constructing a sports stadium at Tepa and assisting the clubs to stand on their feet to as part of its youth development programme.

Mr Adu-Poku urged the players to take their training seriously and avoid alcoholism and other social vices and added that they should make discipline be their hallmark if they hope to achieve results.

Mr George Fosu Berkoe, Team Manager of Tuffour Stars who received the money on behalf of the three clubs thanked the District Assembly for its support and appealed to other organisations, citizens of the area and philanthropists to emulate the Assembly and encourage the development and promotion of sports in the District.
