Tepa-Ashanti, Nov. 11, GNA 96 Nana Eric Agyemang Prempeh, Ahafo-Ano North District Chief Executive has observed that the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP) was to improve living standards and reduce poverty in the country.
He said so far about 110 teachers had been recruited and posted to schools within the district under the programme and additional 50 teachers would be recruited after approval from the Ministry of Manpower, Youth and Employment.
Nana Prempeh made the observation during a visit to some vegetable farms under the programme at Tepa-Ashanti. He appealed to the vegetable farmers to form co-operatives for assistance from the programme.
Mr James K. Nyamekye, Ahafo-Ano North District Youth Employment Co-ordinator, asked the farmers to seek technical advice from agricultural extension officers to increase production. He urged them to re-pay loans granted to them to enable others benefit.
