GES, GNAT organises workshop for Teachers
Akim Osino(E/R), Feb. 19, GNA - The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) in conjunction with Ghana Education Services (GES) has organized a day's educational forum for more than 500 teachers drawn from Basic and second cycle Institutions at Akim Osino near Akim Bunso in Fanteakwa District. The forum, under the theme, "Benefits of Mutual Fund" aimed at improving the general welfare of teachers, and prepare them to enjoy the fruits of their labour during old age.
Speaking on the occasion, the District GNAT Secretary for Fanteakwa, Mr Emmanuel Boateng urged all teachers to embrace the Fund and contribute meaningfully so that Teachers could enjoy the benefits of their labour when they retire.
The contributions would cushion them as the fund would take care of the hardships before they could collect their pension entitlements. The District GNAT Secretary urged other teachers who are not contributors to do so as early as possible as their decisions would be in the right direction.
Mr Boateng told teachers to live above reproach and stay away from social vices such as drinking, sexual abuse and absenteeism but rather help to build the good image of the profession.
Mr John Tettevi from the District Education Office, Fanteakwa, who presided urged teachers to unite and fight for the common good of the profession.
