Airline Manager drowns in hotel swimming pool

Sunyani, June 06, GNA-Tragedy hit City Link, a private internal airline company based in Kumasi, when its new manager, Mr. Kwabena Yeboah died at the Sunyani regional hospital, when he attempted to swim in a pool at Eusbett Hotel.

The company had to call off the official launch of its internal operations in Sunyani, as a result of the incidence that occurred on Monday.

Mr Ilias Agyapong of Sam Bennet Hard Ware Company Limited, an eyewitness said the incident happened at 12:45 midnight. He said, he and some friends were playing snooker game, when they heard a lady screaming at the swimming pool.

Mr. Agyapong said when they quickly rushed to the pool side and saw Mr. Yeboah laying flat in the seven-seat depth of the pool unconscious, he (Mr. Agyepong) quickly dived and brought him out.

He said as he gave the deceased a mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. Mr. Agyepong said Mr. Yeboah was revived and taken to the hospital, where he was attended to, before he and his friends returned to the hotel.

Mr. Robert Bennet, Manager of the hotel said he received a call front the front desk at 2:00 am that condition of Mr Yeboah had worsened so he, with the help of some workers, rushed him back to the hospital but died on arrival.

He said, Mr Yeboah was scheduled to stay in the hotel for a month to see to the operations of the flight between Sunyani and Accra. Mr. Sam Bennet, owner of Esbett Hotel, expressed shock at the death of Mr Yeboah. He said it was against the rule of the hotel for anybody to swim in the pool after 1800 hours and for him to have swam at that odd hour baffled him.
