The Chief of Nzema Aiyinasi in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region, Nana Etwe Kpanyinli VI, has appealed to the government to establish a teacher training college in the area.

Nzema Aiyinasi is a commercial and cosmopolitan town in the Ellembelle District with over 12,000 people.

The town has a public clinic, many primary schools, and Junior High Schools, but lacks a public secondary school and tertiary institution.

The Chief made this passionate appeal at the climax of their annual Kundum festival on Saturday, October 26, 2024.

Addressing the gathering, Nana Etwe Kpanyinli VI commended the Member of Parliament for Ellembelle, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, for improving the town's roads.

"Let me use this occasion to thank our MP, Armah-Kofi Buah, for repairing our town roads. This is what we need. We need more development. Aiyinasi is not a small town, so more development must come," he stated.

"Right now, we don't have a Senior High School or a teacher training college here. It is my prayer that we get some here. I appeal to the government to establish a teacher training college here so that our youth will not have to travel long distances to attend teacher training colleges," he added.

He also took the opportunity to appeal to the government to construct a modern market to replace the existing one, which is in a bad state.

"Our town is one of the commercial towns in the Ellembelle district, but our current market center is small. It is time for the government to think about us. We have demarcated a vast land to construct a modern market on it. I appeal to the next government in 2025 to come to Aiyinasi and use the land to construct the market for us," he appealed.

He used the colorful occasion to urge the residents of Aiyinasi to maintain peace in the area before, during, and after the December 7th general election.

"What we should know is that political parties will come and go, but our community will remain. I appeal to you to avoid things that will bring disunity in our community. I will not force anybody to vote for any political party, but you must choose the political party that will bring development to us. We want a political party that will come to power and bring us development.

"Do not let politics divide us. Do not let any political party use you to incite trouble before, during, and after the general election. We want peace in this country. Elections are not about war," he said.

Nana Etwe Kpanyinli VI also called on his people to maintain the values and importance of the Kundum festival.

He also called on the residents to contribute to the development of the community.

A fundraiser was held on that day to raise money for the development of the community.

The Kundum festival is celebrated by the good people of Ahanta and Nzema of the Western Region.

It is celebrated to thank God for the abundance of food during the harvest period of the area.
