Ajumako C/R) March 23 GNA - The Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District Directorate of the Ghana Education Service has adopted some measures towards improving the performance of candidates in the impending Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). The measures include special classes for all final year students in Junior High School in the district.
The District Director of Education, Mr. Isaac Amonoo, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, at Ajumako, appealed to parents to ensure that their wards attended the classes consistently. Mr. Amonoo urged parents to monitor the movement of their children, especially, the girls, to prevent pre-marital sex, which result in pregnancy and the contraction of HIV/AIDS. He said as part of the measures, a special quiz competition in English, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies was organised for seven students in the Ajumako Circuit. Master Naqsh Forson of Ajumako Prince of Peace, a private JHS, won the overall best student prize with 36 points, Master Bismarck Takyi of Ajumako GESDI JHS took the second position with 34 points. Miss Leticia Aidoo, also of Prince of Peace, placed third, while Dorcas Nyarko, also of GESDI took the fourth position with 29 points.
