The Ajumako District Teachers' Credit Union has donated hospital beds to the Ajumako District Government Hospital and computers to the Ajumako District Education Directorate as part of the celebration marking the union's 30th anniversary.

One of the significant challenges facing the Ajumako District Government Hospital is the shortage of hospital beds. This issue forces many patients seeking treatment to sleep in plastic chairs and on benches within the hospital premises.

Additionally, governmental institutions are grappling with insufficient computers to store vital data and information. In response, the management of the Ajumako District Teachers' Credit Union has provided the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District Education Directorate with two modern computers to enhance their operations.

The donation of ten modern hospital beds is expected to improve the quality of healthcare at the Ajumako District Government Hospital.

The Acting Medical Director of the Ajumako District Government Hospital, Dr. Daniel Acquah, expressed his gratitude upon receiving the items but lamented the ongoing issue of patients being forced to sleep on plastic chairs and benches due to the shortage of hospital beds.

He called on philanthropists, non-governmental organizations, and private individuals to support the hospital in securing more beds. Dr. Acquah emphasized that it is disheartening to see sick people in such uncomfortable and unhealthy conditions while seeking treatment.

He added that many of the hospital’s beds have been damaged over time, worsening the shortage, and noted that this issue has persisted for many years, hindering the hospital’s ability to provide quality healthcare.

Regarding the education sector, the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District Education Director, Madam Sabina Aba Wilson, after receiving the computers, highlighted the challenges faced by the Directorate, particularly the lack of adequate computers.

She mentioned that most of the computers at the directorate are damaged and appealed to the public for support.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District Teachers' Credit Union, Mrs. Dorothy Ansah, encouraged authorities to adopt a culture of maintenance.

She expressed her sadness at seeing sick people receiving treatment on plastic chairs and benches, which motivated the Union to make the donation.

Mrs. Ansah also encouraged both government and non-government workers to join the Credit Union, emphasizing the numerous benefits available to members.

She concluded by stating that, beyond these donations, the Union has consistently supported various institutions within the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District and looks forward to making more contributions in the coming years.
