Akontombra-Nkwanta (W/R) Oct 9, GNA - Twenty-two junior secondary school students from the Akontombra-Nkwanta Electoral Area, made up of 18 girls and four boys, whose virginities have not been tempered with, have come together to form a Virgins Club.
Mr Jim Peprah, a National Service Person, who is the organiser, told the Ghana News Agency that members of the club have vowed to remain "untouched" until they got married.
Mr Owusu Minta, Aowin-Suaman District Focal Person on HIV/AIDS, who inaugurated the Club at Akontombra-Nkwanta commended members of the club for being role models in their communities.
He advised the youth to emulate members of the club and avoid casual sex, because it could ruin their lives and said they should be wary of men who would want to take undue advantage of them for their selfish ends.
Mr Minta said the best way to avoid contracting the HIV/AIDS disease was to abstain from sex.
Mr Daniel Abrefah of the District Primary Healthcare Unit of the Ministry of Health, asked parents to provide their children especially girls with their basic needs so that they would not fall prey to men who would try to entice them with money.
He advised the people to send their school-going age children to school and encourage them to work hard.
