Accra, April 8, GNA - A seven-member delegation of the Akpini Traditional Council led by Togbui Komla Teng V, Dufia of Kpando Aloryi on Tuesday called on the Chairman of the Council of State, Professor Daniel Adzei Bekoe, to inform him of the funeral arrangements of Togbui Dagadu VII, Paramount Chief of Kpando and President of the Akpini Traditional Council and to invite members of the Council of State to the funeral. A statement signed by Mr Sam Akurang Wiafe, Director Public Affairs of the Council of State, said the funeral celebrations would begin on April 30, 2008 and climax on Saturday, May 10, 2008. It said the late Paramount Chief was a professional quantity surveyor who was enstooled in 1992. He was an astute ruler who was a two-term elected President of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs. The statement said Togbui Dagadu served as a member of the Steering Committee of the National House of Chiefs and in 1997 he was elected to serve on the Council of State as the Volta Regional representative on the second Council of State of the Fourth Republic of Ghana from 1997 to 2000. Prof Adzei Bekoe thanked the delegation for the visit and expressed his condolences as well as those of other members of the Council to the chiefs and people of the Akpini Traditional Area. He assured the delegation that the Council would mourn with them on May 10, 2008 in order to give their departed colleague a fitting farewell. Among the delegation was Mamaga Agbalisi V, Paramount Queen-mother of Kpando, Madam Augusta Gabianu and Komla Amedewonu, both elders of the Traditional Council.
