His Excellency the President, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo has been enskinned as a “Development” Chief and “Say and Do” Chief respectively from two Traditional Kingdoms in the Northern Region.
The Overlord of the Mamprugu Traditional Area, Nayiri Mahama Abdulai Shiriga at his palace in Nalerigu enskinned Mr. Akufo-Addo as Lebgimsim Naa (Development Chief) whiles the Overload of the Gonjaland Traditional Area, Yagbonwura Tuntumba Boresa I, also enskinned the President as Yanawura (Say and Do Chief).
The enskinments was done when President Akufo-Addo pay homage to the two Overlords (Nayiri and Yagbonwura) in their respective palaces as part of his three-day working tour to the Northern Region.
According to both traditional areas, the titles was conferred on the President due to the fulfilling promises he made to Ghanaians in the run-up to the 2016 election.
They indicated that, the social interventions such as the Free Senior High school and the planting for food and jobs programs introduced by President Nana Akufo-Addo is improving livelihoods and their people are very happy like never before, adding that, parents and guardians are now relief with the burden to pay their wards school fees.
“We cannot thank you (President Akufo-Addo) enough for what you have done to the people of Mamprugu, We are very grateful to you for making our son (Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia) your Vice”. Chief Tagana who spoke on behalf of the Nayiri.
The Mamprugu Overlord in his statement invited President Akufo-Addo to celebrate with the people in this year’s Damba Festival Celebrations.
At the Yagbonwura palace in Damongo, Gonjaland Overlord, Yagbonwura in speech read on his behalf by the Convention People’s Party’s (CPP) 2012 Presidential candidate, Dr. Abu Sakara Foster assures the President of his unflinching support to ensure that all the interventions in his government succeed.
He said the implementation of flagship programmes such as the free Senior High School and the planting for food and jobs are ample testimonies of the President’s commitment to deliver on his promises.
