The perennial flooding on the Ahodwo/Daaban main road in Kumasi road will soon be a thing of the past

Contractors have started works on the bridge, which usually floods whenever it rains in the city.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, whilst in opposition, promised to tackle the poor road networks in Kumasi when elected as president.

The Ahodwo/Daaban road, which has been in deplorable state for many years, was mentioned by the then NPP candidate as one of his priority roads.

And after two years in political office, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration seems to have fulfilled that campaign promise.

Checks made by the paper reveal that a contractor moved to site some weeks ago and quickly started work.

The troubled bridge had since been demolished by the contractor and efforts are also being made to construct a new one in its place.

Some of the residents in the area have started showering praises on President Nana Akufo-Addo for fulfilling his campaign promise.

Meanwhile, the paper also gathered that other road projects in Kumasi and other parts of Ashanti region, are being constructed.

Reports have it that the government has tasked the contractors to complete most of the road projects before 2020.
