Akyempim Bank undertakes clean-up

Gomoa Dawurampong, C/R, Nov. 5, GNA- The Management and Staff of the Akyempim Rural Bank at the week-end spent more than six hours to under take a clean-up exercise at the Swedru government Hospital and Gomoa Dawurampong market.

The staff, led by the General Manager of the Bank, Mr. Willington Assan swept the market, streets, desilted gutters and cleaned other vantage points of Dawurampong town. They swept the compound, scrubbed the floor of the male ward and removed cob wed at the Swedru government Hospital. The exercise formed part of the activities marking the celebration of Rural Banking Week, celebrated started from October 28, 2006 to November 5 throughout the country.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency after the exercise, Mr. Assan said the exercise was undertaken in the four communities where the bank has its Agencies.

They were Agona Swedru, Winneba-Junction, North Campus of the University of Education and Gomoa Dawurampong.

Mr. Assan said the staff of the bank would play football match on Sunday with Tutors of Gomoa Dawurampong Secondary/Technical School as part of the week-long programme.

He said the management of Akyempim Rural Bank has instituted, during the celebration, an attractive package for any customer who would deposit five million with the bank. The bank made a cash donation to the Swedru hospital to support its operation.

Mr. Seth Bedzra, Maintenance Officer of the Hospital received the money and expressed appreciation to the management and staff of Akyempim Rural Bank for the gesture and appealed to other financial institutions and companies to emulate the gesture.
