Alleged armed robber remanded for possessing marijuana

Tema, April 8, GNA- Solomon Kpakpa Quartey, a sand winner and an alleged armed robber was on Thursday remanded by a Tema circuit court for stealing 37,000 cedis and possessing marijuana.

His plea was not taken and he is to reappear on April 21. The prosecution said in the night of Friday, March 26, the police received information that the Kubekro village, near Tema was besieged by five armed robbers.

When the police got there the armed robbers had bolted but the accused person, believed to be one of the robbers, succeeded in robbing two persons, Madam Adjetey and Mr Oko.

The victims identified the accused when he was arrested from his hideout and when the police searched him they found two wrappers suspected to be containing Indian hemp on him.

The prosecution said the substance would be sent to the police forensic laboratory for examination.

The robbers left behind five empty SB gun cartridges, the prosecution said.
