Amenfi Central MP organizes inter-schools quiz competition for schools

Member of Parliament (MP) for the people of Wasa Amenfi Central in the Western Region on the ticket of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Peter Yaw Kwakye-Ackah on Friday, March 2, 2018 organized inter-school quiz competition for Upper Primary and Junior High Schools to foster educational system in his Constituency.

The Wasa Amenfi Central examination officer, Mr. Nathaniel Fiifi Sangmoah on behalf of the MP revealed, the decision to embarked on the quiz competition is to equip and prepare the 2018 candidates ahead of the upcoming Basic Education Certificate Examination (B.E.C.E) to retain the excellent performances' performed in the past.

"We want to prepare our children very well towards the BECE written annually" Mr Sangmoah emphasized.

Mr. Sangmoah, who supervised the quiz competition on behalf of the Member of Parliament said, over the past years, especially, 2016, Amenfi Central held 2nd position in the whole Ghana's BECE result provided by West Africa Examination Council.

This, according to him, is a plus to the Amenfi Central District thus, aiming to perform massive in this year's examination.

When asked the source of fund for the occasion, Mr. Sangmoah said, since quality of education is the first priority of Mr. Peter Yaw Kwakye Ackah, through his capacity donated over ten thousand Ghana cedis ( ghs 10,000 ) to funded the quiz without any external support from the government's coffers.

He hinted that, the competition will at least prompt the candidate to read through their books to help recall what's being learnt in the past for a better grade in the upcoming examination.

The Upper Primary Schools who participated in the final quiz competition after beaten schools in their zones were, Agona Amenfi D/A, Joy life international, Manso Amenfi D/A and Sagomens Hiawa primary school.

After the total rounds of the competition, Agona Amenfi climbed the ladder to the top with 53 points whilst Manso Amanfi at the second position with 40 points.

The climax of the competition where all eyes on is the JHS level.

Schools partaken were the Wasa Bekwai, Wasa Akyekyere, Manhyia area 7 and Kyiekrom D/A Junior High School.

After the total rounds, Wasa Akyekyere took the trophy with 61 points whilst Wasa Bekwai with 33 points at last position.

Speaking to the media, Mr. Nathaniel Fiifi Sangmoah advised the students on behalf of the MP to burn the midnight candle also, make use of their academic calendar to memories the previous lessons being taught.

He again urged the students to abstain from examination malpractices and not to put all eggs in one basket to ensure smooth examination.
