Anglican Diocese of Kumasi raises money to save boy

Kumasi, Aug 03, GNA - The Anglican Diocese of Kumasi has been able to raise 40 million cedis towards the surgical operation of a five-year-old hole-in-heart boy of the Asante-Mampong Babies Home.

The Cardiothoracic Centre of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital diagnosed the boy, Patrick Atta Osei Sarpong, an orphan, last year at the age of four.

The Right-Reverend Daniel Yinkah Sarfo, Anglican Bishop of Kumasi, said this at the presentation of 600 dollars by the Chicago branch of the Amaniampong 'Kroye Kuo' on Tuesday. Bishop Sarfo said the operation would cost 80 million cedis and Cardiothoracic Centre would bear the other half of the cost. The Anglican Bishop extended gratitude to individuals for responding to the appeal.

Mr Hennric David Yeboah, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Afigya-Sekyere East who presented the amount, appealed to Ghanaians in the Diaspora, churches and individuals to have compassion and support the needy at all times. Mrs Mabel Asafu-Adjaye, Superintendent of the Mampong Babies Home, who received the amount, thanked the society.
