An Immigration Authority vehicle with registration number GI 441, assigned to the Menuso border, allegedly crushed two teenagers to death on Wednesday evening in Okanta, a suburb of Kadjebi in the Oti Region.

The victims have been identified as a motor mechanic apprentice and a makeup artist apprentice who were on their way home from work when the accident happened.

There was a fatal collision after the car allegedly tried to pass another car but swerved into their lane.

According to reports, police and immigration officers arrived on the scene, but their presence enraged residents.

The angry residents set fire to the immigration vehicle.

The vehicle was allegedly driven by the immigration commander for the Menuso border.

Firefighters were unable to deal with the situation because their fire truck had been out of service for months.

Meanwhile, the bodies of the deceased have been taken to a hospital for preservation.

They will be buried on Thursday, December 12, 2024, in accordance with Islamic rites.
