Inmates of the Ankaful Communicable Prisons in the Central Region have undergone a hand washing sensitization exercise to reduce the spread of infections and other communicable diseases at the Prisons.
NGO, United Africa Development Aid and Unilever Ghana took the inmates through series of demonstrations and other hygienic practices to ensure the proper observance of hygienic practices.
Speaking at the handing over of toilet soaps to the Inmates, Executive Director of United Africa Development Aid, Wilfred Sarsah, says the NGO and Unilever will continue with such exercises in Ghana’s prisons.
“We brought boxes of soaps from Unilever to support the prisons. We need to ensure that certain basic hygienic practices are observed so the spread of infections can be curtailed,” he explained.
Staff Officer of the Ankaful Communicable Diseases Prisons, DSP Daniel Eghan, who received the donation of the boxes of soaps by Unilever Ghana, assured the prisons will ensure the effective use of the soaps. According to him, the hand washing practice would be done before and after meals by inmates.
