Michael Adu, the administrative secretary of Madam Sharifatu, headmistress of Suhum Islamic Girls Senior High School (SHS) in the Eastern Region, has been confirmed dead.

Sources close to the family confirmed that the deceased was allegedly poisoned at a drinking bar in the municipality.

According to reports, he was drinking some alcoholic beverages with his friends on Monday evening when the incident occurred.

The deceased, whose body has since been deposited at the Suhum Hospital morgue, was pronounced dead at a local clinic after he complained of stomach ache at Suhum.

Sources close to the family of the deceased told DAILY GUIDE that “according to the doctors’ reports, he took a drink containing poison which led to his death.”

“He was very friendly and usually drank alcohol with his friends, and we suspect one of the friends put poison into his drink.”

According to the source, the family had lodged a complaint with the police to investigate the matter.

This is the second time this year that someone has passed away at the school.

Last month, a final-year student, Patience Ama Gyamfuah from Akyem-Tafo was knocked down when she attempted to cross the road to receive a mobile phone from a male friend in the evening.

Attempts by DAILY GUIDE to contact the headmistress to comment on the matter proved futile.

The school, since its establishment, has recorded four deaths.
