The founder and leader of Kristo Asafo and a famous Ghanaian inventor, Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo, has footed the bills of some fourteen (14) patients at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.

Some of these patients had been detained at the hospital for months, due to their inability to settle their bills after a discharge. Their faces were therefore put to smiles after the inventor's kind gesture.

The team that did the presentation on behalf of the apostle was led by his wife, Oheneyere Akosua Safo, and his son, Kwadwo Safo Jnr. They were all accompanied by some church leaders.

After footing the bills on behalf of the Apostle, Kwadwo Safo Jnr who is also the son of the popular inventor, said the act was part of his father's annual gestures to celebrate his birthday.

He said that Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, during his previous year's celebration donated to the prison service as part of his charitable gesture.

"He sent us here with this amount of money so that patients who are in difficulty may be rescued. We want to announce to the leaders here that this mission will continue. We will come here in the subsequent years. We will do it gradually to assist patients who are in difficulty. We do it to reflect the motto of our church which says 'service to mankind is service to God,' he said.

He further disclosed that the Apostle would continue to assist people until their well-being was fully secured.

Speaking on behalf of the hospital, Dr. Samuel Ankomah, Business Manager at the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department, thanked Apostle Kwadwo Safo and his church members for such a gesture.

According to him, these patients of which most were people who had complications during or after births, had been detained at the hospital for months due to their inability to settle their debts.

He mentioned that the total cost of the amount paid by the apostle on these fourteen (14) patients was GH¢42,000.

He, however, urged other philanthropic individuals to emulate the act of Apostle Kwadwo Safo.

Meanwhile, some patients who were lucky to be released expressed gratitude to Apostle Kwadwo Safo and explained how they suffered due to their inability to settle their debts.

"You can imagine the kind of embarrassment these people who had complications during or after birth had to go through due to their inability to settle their debts after they were discharged. My daughter gave birth and had the same issue. We couldn't pay the amount involved after her discharge. We had been here for almost two months. But for the kind gesture of Apostle Kwadwo Safo, we would still be here," a mother of one of the discharged patients told journalists.

Apostle Kwadwo Safo who celebrates his birthday in August, every year, is known for such gestures.

He either goes to the prison service, children's home, or hospitals to foot bills for patients who are in difficulty.

On behalf of the apostle, his son, Kwadwo Safo Jnr has pledged his father's commitment to continue supporting people.
