Asante Akim District shows appreciation

Accra, Jan 13, GNA - The Asante Akim North District Assembly on Thursday expressed appreciation to President John Agyekum Kufuor for the honour done them for nominating Mr Kwadwo Baah-Wiredu their Member of Parliament (MP) as the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning. A statement signed by George Kyei-Baffuor, Presiding Member of the Assembly, said the President made the right choice and that posterity would be proud of the President for his decision.

It said Mr Baah-Wiredu's personal qualities such as "his high level of integrity in his transactions; hard work, ability to build consensus, humility, firmness and his track record as a goal getter are factors that make him suitable for the position".

It said with Mr Baah-Wiredu's educational background as a Chartered Accountant, who had been part of the economic management team and as a Minister, who visited all the districts in the country during his previous tenure in the Ministry of Local Government and the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, "he comes well aware of the developmental challenges confronting the mass of our people".

The statement said that his constituents would "support him in his national assignment... believing that he will build on the positive achievement of his predecessor".
