The Asante-Akim North District Assembly has approved the nomination of Mr. Kingsley Paul Averu, a Laboratory Technician at the Agogo Presbyterian Hospital, as District Chief Executive (DCE).

Twenty-seven of the members voted to back him while eight others dissented in an election supervised by the Deputy Ashanti Director of the Electoral Commission (EC), Mr. Lucas Aamwaa Yiryel.

Mr. Averu had first been nominated to the position in year 2012, but his nomination was withdrawn, after he failed to receive the endorsement of the assembly.

The situation, this time was different as he went through, garnering 77 per cent of the votes.

He thanked the assembly for the support and pledged to work with everybody to speed up the socio-economic development of the area.

Mr. Peter Anarfi, the Regional Minister, who was on hand to observe the event, hailed the assembly for the political maturity and asked the members pulled together to bring progress.

He counseled them to overcome political division and focus on the task of transforming the living conditions of the people.
