Asante Akim North promotes teaching, learning

Konongo-Odumasi (Ash), Oct. 5, GNA - Mr Eric Nkansah, Assemblyman for Konongo Odumasi, in the Asante Akim North District of the Ashanti has called on school-going children to see school as a place to nurture their intellect.

They should also see on going school projects in his electoral area as the assembly's effort to promote teaching and learning. Mr Nkansah made the call when he inspected a completed block of six classrooms for the Anglican Primary School at Konongo Odumasi at the weekend.

The USAID and the Asante Akim North District Assembly funded the block, which was estimated at 230 million cedis.

The Assembly member had earlier conducted the GNA round to inspect another block of six classrooms for the Odumasi Presbyterian Primary School, estimated at about 270 million cedis.

The Presbyterian Primary School block project was funded by the Social Investment Fund's (SIF) contribution of 75 percent, the Assembly's contribution of 15 percent and the community's contribution of 10 percent of the total cost of 270 million cedis.

He commended the Assembly's effort to open job opportunities for the jobless youth, when he said the assembly had purchased two block moulding machines worth 25 million cedis, and had initially employed 20 masons and labourers who moulded 1,000 blocks daily.
