Asebuman launches Educational Fund

Gomoa-Asebu (C/R), Jan. 6, GNA-The Chiefs and people of Gomoa-Asebu, near Winneba-Junction in the Central Region, on Saturday launched a 10,000-Ghana Cedi or (a 100-million-Cedi) Educational Fund to support brilliant but needy children in the town. Nana Kojo Beedu V, Gomoa-Asebuhene and a member of the Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Council, is the life patron of the Fund, designed to promote education in the area.

Nine distinguished personalities in the community have been appointed trustees to administer the fund, to which both resident and non-resident citizens would contribute five Ghana cedis or 50,000 cedis annually to enable it achieve the objective for which it was established. They are, Nana Ofosu Acquah I, Kyidomhene, Nana Obuabeng Yedu-Nkum I, Obaatan, Madam Hannah Bekoe, Mr. Fiifi Amfo-Nkum, Mrs Catherine Odoom- Arhin, Mr. Jacob Ketseaba, Madam Esi Abbam-Amoah, Asafoakye, Mr. Jacob Odoom, and Opanyin Kofi Nduro.

Mrs. Sabina Wilson and Mr. Ofosu Donkor were appointed Counsellor and Project Co-ordinator, respectively of the fund.

Launching the fund as part of the activities marking this year's annual Afahye Festival, Nana Kojo Beedu, the Chief of the Town, praised the initiators of the fund and asked all Asebu citizens to contribute their quota towards the realization of the objectives of the fund. On behalf of members of the Asebuman Educational Fund, Mrs. Catherine Odum-Arhin expressed their appreciation to the Chiefs and People of the community for the confidence and trust posed in the Trustees and assured them of credible performance. The Obaatan, Nana Yedu-Nkum, and the Kyidomhene, Nana Ofosu-Acquah called for maximum co-operation, commitment and determination from the entire citizens of the community to enhance the development of the town.
