A mother and her 9-month-old baby escaped death narrowly in a diesel fuel tanker accident.
The long vehicle rammed into the woman’s shop at Dichemso, a suburb of Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.
Class News’ Ashanti regional correspondent, Hafiz Tijani, reports that the driver of the tanker, with a Burkinabe registration plate 11 GG3355, lost control of the heavy-duty vehicle as he tried to climb a hill, leading to the accident.
The shop was mangled due to the impact of the truck while several electrical gadgets were completely destroyed.
No casualties were recorded and officers from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) and the Motor Transport and Traffic Department (MTTD) from Asawase were dispatched to the scene to ensure safety.
Kumasi Airport District Police Commander of the MTTD, ASP Jones Affutu, who was present at the scene had the driver sent to the police station for interrogation.
