Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa Assembly sponsors 130 teacher trainees

Breman Asikuma (C/R), Jan. 30, GNA - Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa (AOB) District Assembly has sponsored 130 teacher trainees in various teacher training colleges in the country to ensure effective teaching and learning in basic schools in the district since 2005. Mr Emmanuel Adjei Doomson, Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa District Chief Executive who announced this said 55 additional teacher trainees would be sponsored next academic year.

Addressing the sixth Central Region People's Assembly at Breman Asikuma, Mr Doomson pledged the commitment of the assembly to provide quality education in the district.

He said educational projects to be undertaken this year would include the establishment of Brakwa Senior Secondary-Technical School at Brakwa, construction of 2 No. Classroom block, Office and store at Brakwa and the construction of 5 No. 3 Unit Classroom block, Office and Store at Jamra, Kokoso, Ato Dawda, Suprunso and Towoboase, he said. In addition, the assembly with support from the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports, would construct a new administration block estimated at about 900 million cedis for the Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa District Directorate of Education.

On provision of furniture, Mr Doomson said the assembly would supply 500 dual and mono desks for some selected schools in the district. He appealed to the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports to support the assembly with more furniture for the schools.
