The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate from Daffiama-Bussie-Issa constituency of the Upper West Region, Dr. Sebastian Sandaare has bemoaned the high rate of school dropout in the area.

He observes that the situation is having a toll on the human resource of the Daffiama-Bussie-Issa district in particular, and has vowed to arrest the situation if elected as Member of Parliament (MP) for the area.

Dr. Sandaare who sees education as the bedrock of development, says he is concerned about this negative development and will go all out to improve on the level of education in the area.

“My vision is that every child of at least 5 years will have the opportunity to start primary education and continue to higher levels. My role is to uplift the current standard of education to unearth potentials of individual pupils”, he stated.

He indicates that the high level of school dropout especially females and the upsurge in teenage pregnancy has become a worrying trend which he will arrest, underscoring the significance of formal education.

The trained medical doctor also outlined key areas in health to make healthcare delivery accessible to the residents of the predominantly rural district which was created in 2012.

“We still lack a major hospital or clinic as well as health personnel like nurses and midwives but I will work towards getting a major healthcare facility for the area “, he promised.

He underscored the significance of traditional rulers in the infant district, hinting that he has already started engaging them as well as the relevant stakeholders in drawing a blueprint for the development of the area which remains one of his core visions.
