Assembly asked to provide teachers' quarters

Busunya (B/A) Sept. 19, GNA - Mr. Kwabena Agyemang-Badu, Nkoranza North District Director of Education, on Thursday urged the assembly to construct teachers' quarters to encourage the professionals to accept postings to deprived areas.

He said the major challenge facing the people was the lack of accommodation for teachers, especially those in the settler farming communities, where the professionals were reluctant to work. Mr. Kwabena Agyemang-Badu gave the advice when he called on Ms. Grace Obeng Donkor, the District Chief Executive, at Busunya, to discuss the development of education in the area.

Mr. Agyemang-Badu urged individuals and organizations to contribute to the development of education in the district. He appealed to parents to send their children to school so that they could acquire knowledge and skills necessary for national development.

Ms. Donkor commended Mr. Agyemang-Badu for contributing to the development of education in the area.

She said the social services sub-committee on education of the assembly had been tasked to make proposals for the development of education in the area.

Ms. Donkor called on the teachers to work harder to raise the standards of education in the area, adding that the assembly would initiate programmes to improve their welfare.
