Mankranso (Ash), March 21, GNA - The Ahafo-Ano South District Assembly made a remarkable achievement in revenue collection by raising over 700 million cedis out of the 815 million cedis target for last year.
Mr Kwaku Obeng Boateng, the District Chief Executive who announced this, appealed to the assembly members to help recruit qualified revenue collectors and plug loopholes in the collection in order to exceed the target set for this year.
Mr Boateng, who was addressing the first ordinary meeting of the assembly at Mankranso on Monday, said the assembly received over four billion cedis out of the over five billion cedis of its common fund for the first three quarters of last year for development projects. He said the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) registered 15,950 persons and collected 370 million cedis as premium and 544 million cedis as government's subvention.
Mr Boateng said 572 million cedis had been paid as beneficiary's claims and appealed to area council chairmen to encourage unregistered persons of the scheme to do so.
He mentioned education, agriculture, water, sanitation and roads as well as sports and security as areas assembly members could play a major role in bringing about changes.
"Let us all work in unity to improve the living conditions of our people in the area", he said.
