Assembly rehabilitates a number of roads

Otaakrom (Ash), April 22, GNA - The Atwima-Mponua District Assembly has rehabilitated almost all the bad roads in the district, Mr Wilberforce Owusu-Ansah, the District Chief Executive, has said. He mentioned the roads as the Tanodumase Junction to the Tanodumase town road, the Bayerebon Number Five to Pakyi road, Bayerebon Number Five to Anhwiaso road and the Nyinahin Junction to Forest road. The others are the Nyinahin-Sreso Timpom, Serebuoso-Abasua, Gogoikrom, Anyinamso Number One-Kukrubuso, Nyinahin-Adupri and Agogoso- Nantedi roads.

Speaking at a ground breaking ceremony for the 9.1-kilometre Otaakrom-Kofi Nyamekrom road to be rehabilitated at the cost of one billion cedis, Mr Owusu-Ansah said the project would be carried out under the Community-Based Rural Development project and is expected to take off early next month.

He said the Mpasatia-Abompe, Achiase Junction-Achiase, Kwanfinfi-Saakrom and Mmoframfadwen-Apenkro roads would soon be awarded on contract.

All culverts on the Nkromah Junction to Pakyi road and the Anhwiafutu-Botrampa road would soon be constructed, he said, and added that Nyinahin town roads project had been taken away from the contractor for shoddy work and delay in executing the project.

Nana Kofi Mathew, chief of Kofi Nyamekrom and Nana Owusu Ababio, chief of Otaakrom, expressed their appreciation to the government and the district assembly for the project and said the rehabilitation of the roads would enhance evacuation of cocoa and foodstuff.
