Assembly to spend 8 billion cedis on living conditions

Twifo Praso (C/R), Jan 3, GNA - The Twifo-Hemang-Lower-Denkyira District Assembly will this year, spend eight billion cedis on development projects that will enhance the living conditions of the people this year.

Mr Samuel Yaw Agyeibie-Kessie, the District Chief Executive said the money, being the assembly's share of the common fund for the year, would be used for streetlights in Jukwa, Manpong and Morkwaa towns, a market complex and the expansion of the Praso Lorry Park. He disclosed this at the General Assembly Meeting at Twifo Praso on Friday.

Mr Agyeibie-Kessie said construction of more classroom blocks; KVIP clinics and the rehabilitation of boreholes in some communities were among the development projects earmarked for the year.

On the National Health Insurance Scheme, the DCE said the scheme took off on November 2005 and up to date, 53,888 people have registered. He, therefore, appealed to members of the house to embrace it and advised those who have not registered to do so to enable them benefit from the scheme.
