Assemblymen express disapproval at late start of workshop

Keta (V/R), July 28, GNA - Aspiring Assemblymen in the Keta District on Thursday expressed anger at the delay in the start of a capacity building workshop scheduled to be held for them in the Assembly hall and compelled the organizers to refund to them a commitment fee they had paid toward it.

Mr Mawuli Afenuvor, Chief Executive Officer of 'Arise Information and Business Enterprise', the organizers of the programme, blamed the delay on the failed take-off of another programme to welcome that was billed to run ahead of the workshop at the same venue. The workshop, scheduled to begin at 0900 hours had not taken off by 1100 hours.

To calm tempers, Mr Afenuvor assured the participants that their commitment fees would be refunded to them. In addition, he said those who were desirous to attend the workshop but were unable to pay the commitment fees, could do so.

About 60 participants finally took part in the workshop on "Leadership and good governance" to enhance the capacity of participants in Local Governance.

Topics treated were productive decision and action taking, good leadership, discretion and love for people.
