Atebubu District designs structures to improve education

Atebubu (B/A), Feb. 16, GNA - The Atebubu District Directorate of Education has designed a number of structures to help improve the standard of education in the District. The Directorate has purchased a public address system, for use to sensitise the people at forums on the need for them to enrol their children in school.

Mr. Kasim Seidu, District Director, told Ghana News Agency at Atebubu that the Directorate had also purchased 19 sets of drums for selected schools to sustain the pupils' interests in school. He said the structures were also to ensure the success of a pilot scheme to improve educational standards in the area.

Mr Seidu said the Directorate had also arranged for incentive packages to boost the morale of teachers, saying radios and tape recorders had been purchased for distribution to deserving teachers.

Mr. Seidu also said poly tank containers had been provided to needy communities to solve water problems and to promote their health.

Mr. Kwadwo Darko, Accountant at the Directorate announced that enough fuel would be made available to Circuit Supervisors to enable them to visit schools regularly to support and encourage the teachers. The provision of the fuel was a great advantage to the Directorate as the supervisors could check absenteeism among teachers and help to delete ghost names from the payrolls, he added.
