Nyinahin-Ashanti, July 31, GNA - Atwima-Mponua District in the Ashanti Region recorded 175 cases of anaemia between January and June, this year.
Mrs Belinda Baffoe-Bonnie, Atwima-Mponua District Director of Health Services, announced this at a meeting of the District Health Management Team (DHMT) at Nyinahin last weekend. She advised the people to eat balanced diet to reduce the high incidence of anaemia within the district. Mrs Baffoe-Bonnie said 8,027 cases of malaria and 357 cases of skin diseases were recorded at the Out-Patient Department (OPD) of the Government Hospital at Nyinahin within the period.
She expressed concern about the increase in hospital attendance from 14,276 during the first half of 2005, to 16,236 during the first half of this year. Mrs Baffoe-Bonnie said the DHMT was therefore, negotiating with corporate bodies and stakeholders in the health sector to sensitise the people to improve their living standards to remain healthy.
