The Australian High Commissioner to Ghana, Mr Jonathan Richardson, says the reopening of the high commission in Ghana, presents a good platform for better relations between the two nations.
He said Ghana has a good environment for brisk business and is hopeful that the two countries would benefit tremendously from the renewed relationship.
Mr Richardson who was speaking to Space FM as part of his maiden visit to the Brong Ahafo Region, pointed out that it would be premature for him to call on businessmen from his country to invest in the region but added that ?because of the easy access to land in the region, agriculture could be a good area for any investor to consider when coming to the region?.
During an interaction with the Director of Space Fm,Mr. Ransford Antwi,Mr.Richardson acknowledged how serene the Brong Ahafo Region is and promised to pay regular visits to the Region.
He also visited Newmont Ghana Gold at Kenyasi in the Asutifi District and the Kwatire Sunflower Production Plant at Odumase.
The High Commissioner said his outfit would be ready to support grasscutter production in the region because of the favourable environment.
?Australia would also assist in the sunflower production at Kwatire in the Sunyani municipality because of high economic value of the flower?, he added.
Mr Richardson was hopeful that the Australian soccer team would perform well at the 2006 world cup tournament in Germany because Australia has been there before unlike Ghana. He predicted that Australia would reach the second round stage of the competition. He said ?Ghana is making its first appearance but because of their abundant skills, they can spring surprises?.
The High Commissioner hoped for a Ghana ?Australia final. --
