Accra, July 24, GNA- The Development Committee of the Avatime Traditional Council in the Volta Region, has drawn a Strategic Action Plan (SAP) to facilitate the development of the area. The SAP is expected to develop a business plan, which would be the blue print for the systematic development of Avatime. Osie Adza Tekpor V11, Paramount Chief of the Traditional Area met in Accra on Friday to draw the action plan.
It was attended by sub chiefs and representatives from Amedzofe, Biakpa, Dzogbefeme, Dzokpe, Fume, Gbadzeme, and Vane. The meeting adopted a communiqu=E9 to among other things accelerate the establishment of the Avatime Development Fund (AvDF) and fast-track the celebration of the Annual (Amu) Rice Festival. The fund, which would run as a Trust would be managed by a Board of Trustees, who will receive contributions from citizens and friends of Avatime, and invest the money in income generating projects. The meeting also proposed the completion and tarring of the Dzolokpuita- Fume road and the establishment of Avatime Market Day for the marketing of agricultural products.
Chairmen of the various committees were tasked to harness eco -sports and tourism, motivation of teachers and improvement of teaching facilities. The meeting also proposed the publicisation of the activities of the traditional council to attract donor partners.
