Awutu-Effutu-Senya District records fewer fire outbreaks in 2004

Awutu Bawjiase (C/R), Dec. 27 GNA - The number of reported fire outbreak cases to the Awutu-Effutu-Senya district Office of the National Fire Service reduced from an average of more than 50 cases in the previous years to only 15 cases in 2004.

This was due to continued intensive education by firemen in the district, the district Fire Officer, Mr. Bartholomew Nketiah, told the Ghana News Agency at Awutu Bawjiase on Monday.

The district Fire Officer cautioned farmers and hunters to be careful in their use of fire as the country enters the dry season. Mr Nketiah asked farmers to adopt the "Back fire", "Flank Fire", "spot Fire" and "Ring Fire" techniques that had been found to be the best method of burning farms under different weather topography and fuel conditions.
