The Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister, Mr. Ignatius Baffour Awuah, has earmarked 12,000 Ghana Cedis to pay National Health Insurance premiums for 2000 elderly people in the Sunyani West Constituency.
Mr. Baffour Awauh, who is the NPP parliamentary candidate for the Sunyani West Constituency, announced the package when he introduced himself to the chiefs and elders of Nsoatre in the Sunyani West District.
“Our elders have done so much for us and it is only befitting that we give back to them as a sign of appreciation”, he said.
He noted that health is an important component of national development, the reason for which the NPP government has introduced the Health Scheme.
“The NPP government believes in a healthy people for a healthy nation and it would continue to improve healthcare delivery”, he said.
The regional minister therefore urged the public to register to enable them access quality healthcare.
Mr. Baffour Awuah also reminded pregnant women that the government has instituted a special scheme for them under which they only have to register free of charge to access free antenatal care under the National Health Insurance Scheme.
