Bawku (U/E), June 13, GNA-The Bawku Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Samuel N'lary has expressed concerns over the rate at which vital office documents and information were being leaked to the public by workers of the secretariat.
He said the ease at which the public gets access to such documents and information was undermining the smooth administration of the secretariat and had cast a slur on their allegiance and commitment to work.
Mr. N'lary, who said this at a workers' durbar of Bawku Municipal Assembly (BMA) on Tuesday at Bawku, warned that anyone found involved in giving out such documents and information without authorisation would be dismissed.
He said the strategic position of the municipality in the region could not be compromised for anyone's selfish ambition and advised the workers to be patriotic to the state and to serve faithfully. He said the secretariat had adopted certain measures to check workers' punctuality, absenteeism and drunkenness whilst on duty in order to improve the image of the assembly and restore lost confidence of the public.
Mr. Abdul-Rahman Gumah, Municipal Chief Executive, also expressed worry over the divisive partisan politics being played by workers in the discharge of their duties and called on them to put a stop to it. He said the secretariat needs their allegiance and commitment to achieve the decentralisation objective of the government to meet the needs of the people and those who could fit into that should advise themselves accordingly.
He urged the workers to eschew all forms of negative tendencies that only retard the progress of the area.
