BONABOTO launches 2014 Congress in Greater Accra

The 2014 BONABOTO National Delegates Congress scheduled to be held in Bolgatanga of the Upper East Region from the 28 December, 2014 to 1st January, 2015 has been launched in Accra

BONABOTO which stands for the Bolgatanga, Nangodi, Bongo and Tongo is an Association and its members are drawn from the Bolgatanga, Nangodi, Bongo and Tongo traditional areas among others.

Launching the Biannual Congress in Accra on Wednesday, the National President, Mr. Lance Adogba Adua, said this year’s Congress would look at some of the pertinent challenges affecting the growth of northern Ghana and to see how they could support to address them.

He said the theme for the congress is: “Supporting the Rebranding of the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) for Development” and appealed to chiefs, opinion leaders, NGOs, Members of Parliament and citizenry from the BONABOTO area to participate in the Congress.

According to the National President, experts and important dignitaries across the globe had been invited to help contribute to the development of northern Ghana.

Mr Adua said the Vice Chancellor of University for Development Studies (UDS), Professor Haruna Yakubu as the Special Guest of Honor, the Upper East Regional Minister, Mr. James Tiigah as the Guest of Honor and the Chief Executive Officer of SADA, Mr. Charles Abugre, as the Main Speaker.

Highlights of activities include conference sessions, workshop, symposia, radio discussions, open forums, and some socialization events such as picnic and a dinner dance.

This year’s Congress is expected to be attended by about 5,000 delegates from branches across the country as well as foreign branches.

BONOBOTO over the years has been contributing to the development of the northern Ghana. Under the Association Scholarship Scheme, a lot of deprived students have been supported and many of them completed tertiary institutions.

The Association has also been donating educational and medical equipment to educational and health institutions in the Northern, Upper West and Upper East regions and well as embarking upon medical outrage programme annually to support health institutions.
